Our history, our fight
Founded by Colonel Daniel De Rouffignac, PROMHANDICAM is a pioneering association in promoting the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities. For nearly 50 years, we have been building a more inclusive society through education, health and employment.
Our journey in dates
Foundation
Creation of PROMHANDICAM by Colonel Daniel De Rouffignac on August 15, 1975.
School for Blind Children
Establishment of the specialized school for blind children.
Official recognition
Recognized by the Ministry of Social Affairs (Decision No. 79/0025).
PROMHANDICAM Association
Becomes PROMHANDICAM-ASSOCIATION, recognized by the Ministry of Territorial Administration.
National transition
Management entrusted to a Cameroonian team.
Death of the founder
Colonel Daniel De Rouffignac dies on March 23, 1991.
Management by CFIC
The Congregation of the Sons of the Immaculate Conception takes over management.
Integrated school
The school admits non-disabled students.
Braille printing
Inauguration with the support of CBM and Liliane Foundation.
Inclusive school
Renamed Inclusive Nursery and Primary School.
New partners
Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services and CLÉ Program become partners.
Partnership change
End of partnership with CFIC. Christian Blind Mission becomes the main partner.
